    Frequently Asked Questions

When Should My Kids Get Their First Cleaning?

We usually recommend waiting until your child is at least three years old before their first trip to the dentist, but it’s important to start forming healthy dental habits early to ensure good lifelong dental health.

How can I prepare my child for their dental visit?

When preparing your child for their first dental visit It’s really helpful to talk about the dentist in a positive light and explain what’s going to happen during the visit in a simple, comforting way. Sometimes, reading fun children’s books about going to the dentist or even having a role-play scenario where you do a pretend dental visit at home can help ease any worries. Remember to keep things positive and avoid using scary or negative words.

When should my child start brushing their teeth, and how often should they brush?

It is  recommended that children start brushing their teeth as soon as their first tooth pops up. You can start by using a soft-bristled toothbrush and a tiny dab of toothpaste. Brushing should happen at least twice a day, in the morning and before bedtime. It’s a good idea for parents to supervise until kids get the hang of it, which is usually around the age of 6 or 7.

Are dental X-rays safe for children?

Yes, dental X-rays are safe for kids when they’re needed. We take all the necessary precautions to keep your child safe. We use protective gear like lead aprons. X-rays are important because they can help us spot dental issues early, which can prevent bigger problems down the road.

It is completely normal for kids to feel nervous about going to the dentist. however , there are lots of things we can do to help ease their fears. We believe in positive reinforcement, using distractions like music or videos during the appointment. If needed, we can also use gentle sedation techniques like laughing gas or oral sedation under close supervision.
